How do you get the green out of your hair caused by swimming?

I have highlighted hair and I went swimming. I soaked my hair with clean water before going in and rinsed it right after but it still looks green. How can I get this out?

Nexxus makes a shampoo called Aloe Rid that is specificially designed to get rid of chlorine buildup and discoloration. I used it before and it helped.

Next time you go swimming, wet your hair first and put some leave-in conditioner in it. This is because hair absorbs the first wet stuff it comes in contact with, so if it's already wet before you get in the pool, and it's protected by a leave-in treatment, it won't leech the chlorine as much.

I'm not sure how to get it out but next time before you go swimming you should put this special swimmers shampoo in your hair, it prevents your hair from turning green. I can' t remember the name of it but I'm sure you could find it in your local hair salon! :)

I have two ways that you can try. The professional products or the "Home Remedy" ~

Professional way:

To remove it from the hair you will need to use products that are made for this purpose. Your hairdresser can recommend some chelating and clarifying shampoos. In unusually difficult cases, where the hair is extremely porous (such as bleached hair) your hairdresser may need to apply a color stripper chemical treatment.

To prevent it's reoccurrence, you have to keep your hair out of the pool! If that isn't possible then you can minimize the hair's porosity by wetting the hair thoroughly before entering the pool. A good conditioner before swimming may help too.

The Home remedy:

Tomato sauce is packed with antioxidents that'll neurtalise the chemicals. Pour a generous amount into your hands . Smooth over hair leave for about 15mins and then shampoo out you should do a few shampoos to get the smell away first.

why does this work? Well just think about the color wheel. If you want to cancel out a tone you have to use it's complementary color. The complementary color for green is red~

Hope this helps~
