I am planning on dying my hair and I would like some input on what dyes to use and other stuff, any

I have medium brown hair with highlights and I'm going dark brown. I was thinking of just dying, but are lowlights better? If I'm going to do lowlights, I'll get it done at a salon, but if I do my whole head, should I do it at home? What home dye is the best?

i think a nice chocolate brown is very nice..... garnier fructis is a good dye, i recently went ash blonde with that (i'm a natural platinum blonde) and i can't even see my natural color anymore!!!

Go with highlights lowlights are kinda out. And you may want to go to a salon, If you do it at home use Loreal or Herbal Essesces and get someone to help you.

Costwise of course, home is better but if you can fork out enough for the salon, I would just do highlights so it the switch is a bit less sudden looking. good luck deciding!

As a hairsylist if all you are doing is depositing dark color to your hair whether you do lowlights or whole head a drug store brand will be ok it is just when you are lifting it (like to blond) is when you should really watch out. You should be o.k. doing it at home. Just beware get a permanent color or it will wash out and your blond hair will be orange due to the color staining the blond hair that you have.

Since you want your hair dark and you have medium colored hair I would prefer a salon because home dyes make your hair look cheap and they never seem to get all of your hair dyed. Just go to a salon and do it, it will look way more neater and natural.
