What color should I highlight/streak my hair?

I want to highlight or streak my hair a different color. I have REALLY dark brown hair (looks almost black from far away) that I usually straighten. If I don't straighten it, it's wavy and frizzy. I don't know what color to put in it. I was thinking like a reddish color...but I don't know if that would look right. I want something to look good in my hair even if it's wavy.

your idea of red is a good one. one very dark hair, especially wavy/curly, a few red or copper hilights, are absolutely stunning especially uner the sun or bright lights.

Yah i would have to agree with jordaniandello3a86@sbc on this one. I have blonde highlights in my hair and i have brown frizzy curly hair too which i straighten sometimes too. So yah even in a bun or pulled back my hair looks nice with its blonde highlights.

i would have them use a lighter hair color instead of bleaching it and then coloring......i have curly hair and when they bleach it --those pieces don't curl right.....just advice.

i am dark brown hair %26amp; i always like to use a darker golden blond color %26amp; also a 2nd shade or either lighter blond or darker than the other.....like 2 colors of highlights....it's pretty! make sure they do small pieces and not chunky so you look natural kinda? unless u wanna be VERY EXPRESSIVE WITH YOUR HAIR. =) GOOD LUCK

I would go with two colors, especially if your hair is really dark to begin with. I would suggest a reddish color with a lighter (maybe golden or honey) brown.

First of all, there is nothing wrong with wavy hair. Have u tried a styling cream? I use Redken styling creme my hairdresser recommended. Rub it in when your hair is still damp, it will help with the frizzies. 2nd, brown or black hair looks SO unnatural when it is streaked. I would go with a hilight. Go with a deeper red,something that matches your natural color. If you streak it blond or something crazy, you will come out looking like Cruella de Ville or something. (She's the mean one in 101 Dalmations). Keep it natural looking, sweetie, and just work on calmin' the frizz, you'll be happier! LOL

I have the same hair color as yours. I am afraid of coloring my hair, but after some considerations, I decided today that I should give it a try ( I've waited the entire life). I thought of highlighting. So I went to my hairdresser and I chose dark violet red. I did it semi-highlights (half of my scalp). Surprisingly, I LOVE it. It's very refreshing to my face. So in my opinion, reddish color looks good on dark brown and black hair, wavy or straight. Give it a try and hope you will be as satisfied as I am! :-)
