Hair colour disaster - please help!?

I had 3 month old blond salon highlighted hair, in an effort to cut cost I decided to DIY with L'oreal Couleur Experte'. It says on the pack it can be used on highlighted hair, but I now have strawberry blond hair with very pale roots - and it does NOT resemble "Toasted Coconut"!! I cannot afford to go to the salon - I know I should correct with a neutral light brown/blond, but should I use a semi or a permenant? Or should I just risk it and choose a darker version of what I have already used?

All answers greatly appreciated, or if anyone has any other advice or tips that'd be helpful. Or any hair website advice suggestions

My sister had a similar problem and I suggested to her to call a local salon and explain to them what had happened and ask what color they thought she should use. I then told my sister when she dyes her hair put the hair dye on the roots first for 10-15 min. then apply to the rest of the hair so the roots wont be a different color.

They told her to do a permanent that the semi might wash out and she would have that brassy copper color. Report It

I've heard washing your hair with Dawn dish soap, it is supposed to take out the color... I've never tried it though.

just go over the main part of the hair with a lighter colour and use a permanent

if you want to grow it out get a semi and when it washes out keep putting on semis and eventually all the blonde will grow out or u can do that until u can go 2 a salon

I would pick up "deposit only" color. (I get mine from Sally Beauty Supply) make sure to get a color one or two shades LIGHTER than what you want your color to be as deposit only tends to come out darker than you realize sometimes. (just my experience)

as we all have different hair it is best to go to your local col ledge that have a hairdressers course there, you can ask the lecturer what she suggests they are very good and have your hair done by second year students this is not expensive do not put anything else on your hair till you have a chat with a professional

I've done this before I bought a l'oreal semi in a slightly darker colour and could venture out of doors again
