I want to do something new with my hair?

Ok, my hair is just like my avatar's. I have sholder length, think, dark brown hair that wavys. I don't want a short cut and I don't want it to be shorter then my shoulders. I also want to add some color to it*not dye the whole hair, just highlights* I also have bangs that part to the sides of my face so you can see my eyes and some of my forehead. They are about 6 inches. Any ideas?
