I have found the the best tamer for my hair is dove spray in conditioner. It makes it smooth without giving that look like you have added something to your hair (like fructis or those other thick balms), and you can use it wet or dry. It doesn't build up like other stuff does, It's awesome. I swear by it, obviously, and have even turned my best friend and mother in law onto after they tried it once! They both use it religiously like me now. It's not exactly cheap, but the bottle will last for quite a while, so its well worth the price.
