Hair colour correction advice?

I had 3 month old blond salon highlighted hair, in an effort to cut cost I decided to DIY with L'oreal Couleur Experte'. It says on the pack it can be used on highlighted hair, but I now have bright strawberry blond hair with paler roots - and it does NOT resemble "Toasted Coconut"!! I cannot afford to go to the salon. I know I should correct with a neutral light brown/blond, but SHOULD I USE A SEMI OR A PERMANENT DYE? Or should I just risk it and choose a darker version of the L'oreal I have already used?

if i was you i wouldnt colour hair straight away to much colouring in short space of time will result in wat ever colour u do not lasting very long hair can only take so much in short space but after leaving it abit i would use a semi colour they can be used reg as they contain conditioner agents try using a colour that will be a couple of shades darker like light chocolate brown that can cover the the blonde as it contains a slight bit of red and it is very important to have red in as your blonde and it wont be to dark .

No.

My advice is to go to the salon. However if you cannot afford to then corrrective colouring although not easy can be done.

First you need a cleansing shampoo to strip any chemicals left in the hair by the colour used.

Then you need to re pigment with a red tone and after that you can put a light brown or dark blonde permanent colour. Semi will fade and leave a washed out effect.

The problem with choosing a color over the counter is that they usually come with a developer or prompter that is a 20 or 30 volume and therefore will cause lift in the hair shaft. What you need is a deposit only formula, a demipermanent color, you can find these at a beauty supply store like

Sally's. You need to choose a color one shade lighter than what you want, because the color will deposit darker over previously color treated hair. And buy the developer that goes with the color. This will deposit like a semi- but with a longer hold, less fading. Just about the same price as the box you buy in the store.

The real answer is you need to go to a salon, if fiance is tight as you say, then try a toner to bring the colour to what you want, or even a good wash in colour shampoo, as a hairdresser my advice would be to stay away from the bleach IE permanent colours as it seems your hair is all ready damaged, and sounds over processed, really good conditioner, but I am sorry its not the answer you want but its your crowning glory, a salon would use a good toner to try to correct the colour

use a semi .the strawberry colour should fade by itself in time , but you still need to blend the whole thing through . id book yourself in to a salon on a training night , but as you may have to wait a while use semis ,colour moouses and shampooos . nothing too dark or permanant or they wont be able to sort it out .

this is going to sound silly but given that you want to correct your mistake, but the best thing you could do for your hair is nothing. If you redye your hair too soon with stuff from the drug store you run the risk of over treating it, and the whole crop of it is wrecked. If you can afford the salon just let it go and it will fade really quick, also don't use a shampoo for color treated hair that will make it fade faster and it will mach in no time.
